Aging skin with sagging and wrinkles

Aging skin with sagging and wrinkles

In the past, correction of sagging skin and skin fold usually require tightening plastic surgery. However, non-surgical alternative treatments have become available in recent years to revert the mild to moderate situations. To effectively lift and firm up the aged sagging facial skin without going under the knife, it is necessary to address the aging processes alluded to above.

Dr Wong would advise you to start looking after your skin early and do all the little things right. Be sun careful, avoid smoking and lead a healthy life style. Use the right skin care under proper supervision, have regular treatment to stimulate new collagen formation. In this case, one can till look young and be young as one gain wisdom and maturity in life.

What treatment is available?

Anti-ageing formulas

Facial creams with the following anti-ageing ingredients are worth trying:

  • Topical Retinoids
  • Vitamin C
  • Alpha Hydroxy Acids
  • Polypeptides

Among all these, topical retinoids are the most proven in rejuvenating the skin.

Resurfacing

Resurfacing refers to various techniques in peeling off the top layers of the outer skin using chemical or mechanical means e.g. chemical peeling, fractional CO2 laser resurfacing. Resurfacing procedures may even out pigmentation, improve skin texture, fine lines, and the firmness of the skin.

Chemical peeling

Chemical peeling involves the application of a chemical exfoliating agents to remove the outer layer of the skin. Dr Wong will use various chemical agents for different patients to produce the varying effects of superficial to medium  chemical peels.

The peel will stimulate skin cell growth, skin thickening and new collagen formation. The regenerated skin will show improvement of the fine wrinkles, photodamage, texture and firmness of the skin.

Fractional CO2 laser

Treatment using super pulsed, high-energy CO2 fractional laser helps to stimulate new skin collagen formation, create more firmness, higher skin elasticity and softness.

With the fractional technology, the recovery time is dramatically shortened, and complication minimized. Skin is treated with thousands of micron-diameter CO2 laser beams which remove (ablate fractionally) the dots of areas they hit and leaving surrounding tissue intact. This helps promote rapid healing and results in the skin pulling tighter because of new collagen formation.

Thermage CPT

Thermage is the most well known FDA approved device for skin lifting and firming purpose. It delivers heat deep into the skin to stimulate collagen production, tightening, firming the skin to reduce the sagging skin. It is a quick, easy and non-invasive alternative to a “mini-face lift” and there is no incision or recovery time.

Fillers injection / Liquid Facelift

The face loses volume as the soft-tissues in the face aged.  Enhancing the facial volume via fillers injection enables better restoration of youthful facial volume and shape and achieve skin lifting e.g. nasolabial fold and brow. These two areas of sagging skin can be quite nicely lifted by fillers injection at the cheek and temple area respectively.
