  1. What is Acne?

Acne is a skin disease that involves the oil glands of the skin. It commonly occurs during puberty when the oil glands come to life as they are stimulated by male hormones produced by the adrenal glands of both males and females.

  1. What is Acne Scar?

Acne scars are the result of the skin’s repair of wounds caused by acne inflammationIn scar treatment, prevention is most important. This is achieved through early medical intervention which includes preventing acne outbreaks and educating teenagers against scratching their acne.

Many treatments are available nowadays to reduce acne scar.E.g. Chemical Peeling, Scar Subcision, Scar Excision, Fractional CO2 Laser, Q-Switched ND YAG Laser.  However, there are different types of scars appear together on the face, thus there is a need to consult experienced dermatologist on how to combine different treatments to achieve the optimal result.

  1. When do you need to see a dermatologist?

Dermatologists who are accredited by the Ministry of Health (Singapore) are naturally knowledgeable and experienced in  the treatment of skin, hair, nails, and of course, acne.

You should see a dermatologist, especially if:

  • You are not sure whether or not the spots on your face are actually acne. It’s always good to have a dermatologist’s evaluation as there are other conditions that may look like acne and certain medications may also cause acne, too. You need a professional to help you sort things out!
  • Initial intervention has not worked! Your acne is worsening and nodules and cysts are developing despite your OTC medication and DIY remedy! If this is the case, make no further delay as your risk of scar formation is high!
  • Your self-esteem is affected and you are extremely upset or depressed about your acne-prone skin.
  1. What are the consultation charges?

The first consultation fee is $130 before GST.

  1. Do I need to book appointment before going down to see doctor?

Booking an appointment is recommended so that you can have adequate time for your consultation with Dr Wong. Call +65 6694 1121 / Whatapp 97244911 for an appointment with Dr Wong.
